Kids sessions to help manage loss or grief

Individual sessions for young people 7-15 approx using creative therapies including Sandplay Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness and more to help manage big emotions such as loss or grief.

Sessions are available online or in a private garden studio in mid Blue Mountains NSW.

GRIEF or LOSS

Sometimes a child is grieving and the child keeps it from the parent/carer because they don't want to worry them. They may be missing a friend who has moved away, or grieving the changes in family dynamics, or the loss of a loved one or pet. Loss of any kind is a type of grief.

By using Sandplay or Art and Mindfulness, they are able to bring their grief to the surface and unconsciously honour what is lost or gone. They sometimes create their own ceremony and this helps to bring healing to their soul, closure and allow joy again.

SANDPLAY PROCESSES (aka SAND TRAY)

When words are not enough, Sandplay Therapy offers a holistic approach to gaining insight and possibilities. Children will choose miniature objects that resonate with them, arranging them in a tray of sand to bring what is underneath the surface to light. Their inner world may feel confused. It may show fear or grief. It may show joy and love. It may show something entirely different such as a wish or longing to be seen as themselves.

ART THERAPY PROCESSES

Art Therapy provides a safe way to express feelings and thoughts using a range of art materials, with no prior art experience needed. The focus is on the process of creation, not on producing a final product.

This expressive approach supports emotional regulation, self-awareness, and self-esteem. Creative therapies also enhance problem-solving skills and insight, making it a valuable practice for all ages, and can even be conducted online.
